Full DayMachu Picchu Tour by car

Your two-day Machu Picchu Tour by car will begin from Cusco. On the first day, you will start your journey early in the morning and head towards Santa Teresa. As we drive through breathtaking landscapes, we will cover a distance of about 164 miles which takes about 6 hours. Santa Teresa, located at an altitude of 5,249 feet (or 1,600 meters), offers a blend of serene nature.

From Santa Teresa, you will continue to Hidroeléctrica. This short drive sets the scene for your adventure as it leads you deeper into the Peruvian highlands. Here, you’ll find the start of the hiking trail to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The route is about 14 miles and an hour long.

You will hike for about 2 hours covering a distance of 7.5 miles (or 12 kilometers) to reach Aguas Calientes. After an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes, we will wake up early the next day to visit Machu Picchu.

Day two of the tour will commence with a short but steep ascent to Machu Picchu. It has an elevation gain of around 1,300 feet (or 400 meters) which typically takes about 1.5 hours. A guided tour of Machu Picchu will help you uncover the secrets of this majestic Inca citadel. You will have some free time to explore on your own before we make our descent back to Aguas Calientes.

From Aguas Calientes, we will hike back to Hidroeléctrica which takes approximately 3 hours. Finally, our car will take us back to Cusco. The journey from Hidroeléctrica to Cusco, covering about 178 miles (or 287 kilometers), takes around 6 hours.
